If your existing air conditioner unit is an older model that uses R-22 refrigerant (also known as HCFC-22 or Freon (a registered trademark of DuPont) there are a number of important facts you need to know as the phase-out of this potentially harmful hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) gas gradually moves closer to a complete ban by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
HVAC equipment manufactured today use safer types of coolant, many systems manufactured before 2010 still use the R-22 coolant. Due to the drastic reduction in production and the direct result of supply and demand the cost to the consumer for R-22 is $100 per pound or more (as of August 2015).
If it is time for you to replace your old air conditioning, we are offering our clients 15% off a new system.
